Something SPECIAL from GLOBE :)

What makes something special? Its not everyday that we get to do whatever we feel like doing and meet whom we really want to meet. That's why there are days tagged as "Special" and kept alive down the memory lane. We all have special people in our lives and we never fail to make them feel special simply because we love them.

Not all the works we do becomes an achievement and not all the things we say becomes legends. We all are normal people and we are allowed to make mistakes and learn. Every person is special on his/her own way as none of us get to experience what others  have been through. That's what makes us unique and special compared to others.

For me, the most special person in my life is my Mom. We all love our Moms and for me, my Mom is the best. She's stood by me through thick and thin and acted as my Dad as well. I awe her my life and I'll do my best just to give her the most wonderful Thank you that I can ever come up with. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Official Trailer

the hobbit poster First Trailer & Poster For Peter Jacksons ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’

Official Trailer:

I can't help but miss LOTR while watching the trailer of this movie. I might watch the movie all over again one of this days. I've been looking forward to this movie and finally, the trailer is out.

the first film in Peter Jackson’s two-part movie adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit.’ The two films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ which Jackson and his film-making team brought to the big screen in the fantastic blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar-winning ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.’ ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ has been pencilled in for a December 14th, 2012 release date. ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ will hit cinemas December 13th, 2013.

Reprising their roles from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ movies are Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo, Christopher Lee as Saruman, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, and Andy Serkis as Gollum. The ensemble cast includes the likes of Martin Freeman, who’s taking on the central role of Bilbo Baggins, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch and Aidan Turner.

Check out the synopsis for ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’

The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Writers: Guillermo del Toro, Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens
Director: Peter Jackson
Cast: Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, Evangeline Lily, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage

Give & Share: Let's offer our prayers and help in every way we can...

It is very unfortunate that most of the reported caused of death were floating trees or logs that slammed to houses, bridges, schools where people seek refuge. This is one lesson that shall give wisdom to DENR to properly manage the mountains/forest to be free of tree debris, abandoned logs/timber. One developmental program is to implement a “Wood or Wood Waste Recovery Program” to gather, recover or salvage all abandoned logs/timber including deceased trees & typhoon knocked-down trees that pose high risk of being carried away by run-off or floods.

The program does not only provide employment to thousands of people considering that the country has about Six (6) million hectares of forests which are “bombarded” with strong typhoons at average of 10 typhoons a year. Due to very strong wind, trees fall down especially the deceased & over matured (very old) trees. So, these trees should be recovered/salvaged, not only to save their economic value as good source of lumber for development but to “free” the mountain from debris with high potential as “TORPEDO” during flash floods. Or free our country from this money making devils who wanted to be rich and leave our poor forests bare from trees and dilute our mother nature into nothing. How selfish can you get? while these people get to lay down into think beds and eat caviars or sharks fin and steaks, people are dying just because they all focus on how to get more money. I really hope our government can focus on this, especially DENR. This has been a crucial matter and has not been resolved for the past years.

When I saw the pictures in the internet of the aftermath of typhoon Sendong, I was really devastated. It happened again. This happend in Ormoc City too. Just because of Illegal logging.

Let's all do our share by helping the ones in need especially this season. We don't really need to give a huge amount of money, here's how you can give out help.

My House Husband: Ikaw Na! MMFF 2011 entry by OctoArts Films

When I got the invitation to attend the Press Conference of the upcoming movie of Ms. Judy Ann Santos and Mr. Ryan Agoncillo, I can't help but feel excited. Who wouldn't be? we're talking about Ms. Judy Ann Santos - she's been in the showbiz industry for almost 23 years and has done 70 movies, most of which have won awards from prestigious award giving bodies and let's not forget that her movie "Ploning" has been nominated in the Oscars last 2009 for the Best Foreign Film Category. Ryan Agoncillo, on the other hand is one of the best TV host in the country today.  He is also one of the most sought after when it comes to commercials.

make a gif

Best of all, I am also really eager to meet Ms. Eugene Domingo, I really love her. Without no effort, she can really make a dull room bloom. She's been winning awards left and right and has been nominated for the past consecutive years. She actually took part in  different movies this year for MMFF. Which is why we all laughed when Ms. Judy Ann Santos joke, "Next year di na MMFF ang tawag sa film fest, Eugene Domingo Film Festival na ito"

In My House Husband, Ms. Judy Ann played the role of Mia, a mother and wife who is the sole breadwinner of her family. Ryan Agoncillo played the role of Rod, a bank manager before who turned into a house husband. Ms. Eugene Domingo played the role of Aida, a mistress who happens to be Rod and Mia's neighbor. While Mia is always busy at work, Rod and Aida developed a friendship that got Mia jealous in the end. We'll know more of the story once we get to watch this exciting movie.

Although Eugene has played with other entries this year, she readily accepted the role simply because she wanted to work with Ms. Judy Ann Santos and Mr. Ryan Agoncillo. As well as with Direk Jose Javier Reyes, one of the best director in the country.

One of the blogger asked Ms Uge, "Since you played the role of a mistress, in reality, papayag ka bang maging mistress if ever?" Ms Uge answered with a smile, "Never, I believe in karma at digital na ang karma ngayon!! ang tawag dyan Digi-karm!!"

When asked if this is a sequel of the past movie "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo"  the cast said, although people might still connect the movie with this recent installment from OctoArts Films, this is an entirely different movie. Tackling with the heavy issue that in reality this really happens. There are a lot of husband who stayed in the house right now to take care of their family while their wife is working for example, an OFW or working in the office. But, that doesn't make them a lesser person or a man. Being in the house and doing all the household chores is a big work. Not all men can do it especially if they have a big ego. But most men can do it just because they love their family. Family always comes first right?:)

One of the blogger asked the couple, "What advice can you give the married couples out there.." Ms. Ryan Agonciollo and Ms. Judy Ann Santos just smiled and she replied, "Basta may respeto kayo sa isa't isa at alam nyong nagpakasal kayo dahil mahal nyo ang isa't isa, walang magiging problema. Never naging solusyon ang annulment, kami kahit may mga times na nag aaway kami, never naming naisip na ipa-annul ang kasal. Pwede namang mag pahinga muna para mawala ang init ng ulo ng bawat isa."

Direk Joey Reyes, who directed the couple and Uge in some of his films feels that this is another stellar movie that people should watch. Both Ms. Judy and Mr. Ryan and Uge felt really proud working with Direk Joey, Ms. Judy Ann even said, "Sino ba naman kami para tanggihan ang nag iisang Jose Javier Reyes."

This is surely a must-watch film and yes, I'm looking forward into watching this film. Uge even told the bloggers that she may not be joining the cast in their float but just the same her spirit is with them. :)

With a power house cast, awesome director and a superb story, "My House Husband: Ikaw Na!" is surely expected to lead box-office results and bring home the highest awards in the MMFF 2011. Also stars, Rocco Nacino and Ellen Adarna.

It was so nice meeting the cast! :) Don't forget to watch! "My House Husband: Ikaw Na!" open on Christmas Day. December 25, 2011.

New Year's Eve Movie Review

2011 is about to end and now, almost all of us are preparing for 2012. This is the theme of the New Year's Eve. It is a great follow up to Valentines Day which is a film that talks about how we are all connected to love and how our life would be more meaningful if we there's "love" in our lives. Of course, when I first saw the trailer of this movie, I can't help but feel excited, I am so looking forward to this movie just because I am a sucker for romance. I love feel good movies and I will not let the opportunity pass by without watching such movies like New Year's Eve.

The movie has the typical characters you would expect: a dejected girlfriend (Katherine Heigl), a grumpy-bitter guy who hates New Year's Eve (Ashton Kutcher), hopeless romantic-naive (Lea Michele).  The movie has so many characters that the list of stereotypical introduction could go on for another 4 paragraphs. The film had its funny moments especially every scene with the odd couple bike messenger Zac Efron & the weird secretary Michele Pfieffer as they journey on to complete her 2011 bucket list (I am really tempted to do this, I mean if ever I can find a Zac Efron look a ike here in Manila why not, but the question is, will that guy be swooned by me if I ever coerced him to tag along with me? hmmm); its a cheesy moment with Hilary Swank’s speech on what a New Year means when the infamous ball doesn’t raise above Times Square (but I really-really love her speech!); and its a romantic moment when Josh Duhamel recounts the meeting of his secret long lost love a year ago New Year’s Eve and hope to see her again (I'm not going to spill it here on who that girl is, because it will be revealed at the end of the movie). A film with all of this spunk wouldn’t be complete without a spicy Latina to add a little flavor to the mix with Sofia Veraga playing herself. I'm actually disturbed with her boobs though. Moving on...

I enjoyed the films ups, downs, and bouncing all around to different storylines and twists in fate, but there are moments where you might need a Garmin GPS to tell you where to go next and a map to connect how everyone is related. I have been anticipating this film ever since I heard they started filming in New York last year. I didn’t realize that Garry Marshall had casted every willing actor plus his sister Penny, good job on this. I like the movie because of the laughs, moments of sweetness, and the good time predictability. The film was a borderline musical, but I’m a total Gleek and loved Lea’s solo and backup renditions. Although I was also imagining, what if they got Mandy Moore instead of Lea Michelle, I love Mandy Moore, they have a rendition of "Have a little Faith in Me" which is of course sung by Many Moore but in the movie, Jon Bon Jovi and Lea Michelle had a duet with this song. Bon Jovi played the role of Jensen, which i also like playing his real life.

To not give spoilers, I won’t comment on all the pop-up star cameos, but I will say that a favorite fine Conscious Rapper turned Actor makes an appearance that just warms your heart on a cold December night in a Skype scene with Halle Berry as a soldier in Iraq. One thing for sure after watching this film is that you will start to plan where you want to be at 11:59 on December 31, 2011 and most importantly – who you will kiss not that it's a big deal here in the Philippines. :))

Here's my favorite moment in New Year's Eve, Hilary Swank's speech :)

...it's (the ball) suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by.
To remember both our triumphs and missteps, our promises made and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt. Because that's what new year is all about -- getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about what if and start embracing what would be.
So when the ball drops at midnight, and it will drop, let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long.

Here's the list of their OST:

Tom Cruise on Rock of Ages Movie

I am really looking forward on watching this movie. Not that I'm not excited about Tom Cruise's latest movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, but I certainly love him more in this movie. Why? he'll be singing :)) plus he looks really hot in this movie. I also love the idea that Catherine Zeta Jones is also back in track, especially after all the news about her being a bi-polar. I don't think it will affect her status though, she's one of the most sought after actress in Hollywood. I think she'll be singing in this movie as well.

tom-cruise-rock-of-ages-image-slice

Directed by Adam Shankman, the movie tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock 'n' roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.

Cast: Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Ackerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, Alec Baldwin, Tom CruiseWriters:Justin Theroux, Chris D'Arienzo, Allan Loeb

Equal Rights for Everybody

I was surfing in the net when I bumped into this video posted on Ms. Divine Lee's tumblr site. I actually felt like crying when I finished watching the video. It was an awareness video pertaining to Down Syndrome. Back when I was still in college, this is our thesis subject. It was really hard for us that time. I also enjoyed going to special schools doing some research with my friends.

Down syndrome, or Down's syndrome, trisomy 21, is a chromosomal condition caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. It is named after John Langdon Down, the British physician who described the syndrome in 1866. The condition was clinically described earlier in the 19th century by Jean Etienne Dominique Esquirol in 1838 and Edouard Seguin in 1844.[1] Down syndrome was identified as a chromosome 21 trisomy by Dr. Jérôme Lejeune in 1959. Down syndrome in a fetus can be identified through chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis during pregnancy, or in a baby at birth.

Actually, this is a hard topic. I can just imagine how hard it is for parents to see their children with Down Syndrome undergo situations wherein their children is being bullied by others. So, what do we do when we witness something like this happens? even though we don't know that person? we should stand up for them. We are all created because we have a mission here on Earth and I believe, we also have equal rights in everything. There are times, I think I'm being too critical when I witness something like this happens in front of me. I tend to lash out on that person, whoever he/she is when she/he is not treating other people well. Let us not allow other people to put them down. Let us all be reminded, especially after watching this video that we all have a voice, we should speak up not only for our own rights but for others as well.

Ryan Gosling is in Siargao, Philippines?

Rumors have been circulating for almost 2 days now that Ryan Gosling is in Siargao Island..surfing. Siargao Island is a small island in the Philippine Sea situated 800 kilometers southeast of Manila in the province of Surigao del Norte. It is a popular spot for surfers and is called the Surfing Capital of the Philippines.

Although we, as a habit, always believe the latest trending topics we read at micro blogging sites since it is one of the most talked about, just like last year when we read about the gossip that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is in Boracay which is never really confirmed, this rumor I guess is one of those which we can never really confirm. I really doubt if he is really in Siargao. I mean, I think he's been shooting 2-3 films to be released next year up to 2013. Which includes: Lawless, Gangster Squad and Only God forgives.

Even celebrities can't help but feel excited about the buzz circulating the web, in Twitter, Beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez tweeted," Just got a txt "Omgomgomgomgomg!!! Ryan Gosling is surfing in Siargao Island!"-800km southeast of Surigao del Norte. Is this truth or rumor? " Isabel Daza - Eat Bulaga host tweeted, "@iloveruffag I think I just died. Ryan Gosling is in Siargao Island? I'm booking a flight right now."

Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams Best Kiss award at MTV movie awards

So, until it was really confirmed that he's been here. let's just watch his past movies and marvel at how amazing this man can be. :) Ryan Gosling is best known for his movies like The Notebook with Rachel McAdams, Blue Valentine with Michelle Williams and Crazy Stupid, Love with Emma Stone. :)

Stop Animal Cruelty!

Ever since I was a kid, I've already experience taking care of our very own pets. We've had dogs, cats, pigeons, chickens, fish and even a turtle. I really don't mind taking care of them personally since I love being hands on with my pets. I always want to be the one giving them food or giving them a bath especially playing with them. Of course, we all know death is inevitable, I lost some of them because of disease or accidents. I really have a soft spot with animals, I mean who wouldn't right?

When my Snoopy died (dog-female) I really cried a lot, I considered her as my best friend. I even remember talking to her at our veranda during those times when I feel depressed and hopeless. She would just look at me and lick my hand while we gaze at the stars. I miss those times. I also lost a lot of cats, mainly because they always get sick and even though we always try my best to cure them, we failed.

What's my point?I'm really getting mad at those people who treat animals especially cats and dogs like dirt. Just like what I posted in my facebook status:

The other day, we just rescued a pregnant cat in our street because it was hit and run by a heartless devil who left the almost dying cat in the road. Good thing we are there to save her. The sad part is, her mouth got crushed as well as her right eye :( perfect reason why I cursed the stupid driver every second whenever I get to think of what he/she did. How cruel can you be? Drivers should always be alert. We're talking about a living thing here. Breathing animal. I really wish the cat will survive. I already asked PAWS what to do and fortunately, they responded to my questions right away. I'm planning to take the cat on their office so that their resident vet can check her up. I really wish she'll be ok. In the meantime, Life goes on...

I wish people would be more considerate. Will be more patient. Will be more attentive and careful. I wish, this Christmas, there will be no more stray animals on the road. No more homeless dogs and cats. No more animal cruelty and abuse. No more eating of dogs just for the benefit of satisfying their "beer-belly" nights. I hate to say this but our country, is not really aware on how to treat animals properly. I hope as days pass by, years pass by..Filipinos and other nationalities will be educated on this matter.

If you know any maltreatment to animals that is happening in your neighborhood or just like me, if you've rescued a stray animal etc. and don't know what to do, feel free to contact PAWS:

Pinoy Homecoming Hospitality Center Opens at DMIA

Balikbayans arriving at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) in Pampanga, will experience their warmest welcome yet with the opening of the Pinoy Homecoming Hospitality Center at the airport on November 29.

Spearheaded by the Department of Tourism (DOT), the homecoming center is part of the government's ongoing efforts to boost visitor arrivals from the balikbayan market by 25 percent in the next five years. Dubbed as the Pinoy Homecoming campaign, it primarily targets Filipinos based overseas, not only in the United States and Canada but worldwide.

A result of Presidential Proclamation No. 181 “Declaring the Years 2011 to 2016 as the Pinoy Homecoming Years” signed on June 3, 2011, the campaign supports Republic Act No. 6768, as amended, or the “Balikbayan Program.” Under the Balikbayan Program, overseas Filipinos (OFs) are given special privileges and benefits in recognition of their contribution to the growth of the Philippine economy in terms of foreign exchange inflow and remittances.

“This is a campaign that recognizes three things: the invaluable contributions of Filipinos overseas, our urgent need to develop and promote Philippine tourism further and how much can be achieved when government agencies work together,” shares DOT Secretary Ramon Jimenez. “We also have to tap into the market of second and third generation Filipinos abroad and encourage them to discover their roots.”

To reach this set of younger Filipinos abroad, the campaign also has a digital marketing component. Through the website www.pinoyhomecoming.ph,  Pinoys abroad can easily access Philippine news portals, tourism products and services, practical balikbayan tips, Philippine holiday and festival calendars, as well as a directory of industry partners and the contact details of DOT’s international offices.

The campaign is supported by Globe Telecom, Duty Free Philippines Corporation (DFPC)and the over 700 partner-merchants nationwide. For more information on the campaign and balikbayan benefits, contact the Pinoy Homecoming Secretariat at 632 525-1255, 632 525-9318 local 268 or 244; fax to (632) 521-6165, or e-mail at tts@dotpcvc.gov.ph.
