The Vow - The love story that everyone's been talking about :)

Life’s about moments of impact. But what if one day, you could no longer remember any of them?
1 day to go! THE VOW opens tomorrow, Feb 10. and yes, I'm really excited to watch this movie. Not that I'm going to watch this tomorrow, maybe over the weekend or who knows. I might watch it alone or with friends, you'll never know. :) So, if you happen to live under a rock and you haven't heard about this upcoming romantic movie yet, this is the perfect post for you. :)

In Columbia Pictures' new, poignant romantic drama The Vow, Paige (Rachel McAdams) and Leo (Channing Tatum) are a young married couple, madly in love and living fulfilling lives as artists in Chicago. One snowy night, the two fall victim to a car accident. Leo survives intact, but a head trauma erases Paige’s entire memory of her relationship with her husband. When she comes out of her coma, Leo is a stranger to her.

Suddenly Leo finds himself in the painful position of rebooting the relationship he’s waited his whole life for, and win his wife's love all over again. Paige has reverted mentally to the young law student she was five years earlier, before she met Leo and became an artist. In seemingly an instant, she is no longer the wife Leo knew, and on top of that, she no longer recognizes her current life. She can’t fathom why she is estranged from her parents (Jessica Lange and Sam Neill), misses her more conservative wardrobe, and doesn’t understand why she would have dropped out of university and a promising career in law. Making matters worse, Paige thinks she's still engaged to charming businessman Jeremy (Scott Speedman), who still wants her, and remains reluctant to embrace Leo, with his less conventional lifestyle making music, as anyone she might have ever loved.

When Paige's memory recovery appears to be a hopeless cause, Leo begins to confront his worst fear—that he's lost the love of his life and his only family. Refusing to give up, he decides to start fresh and court Paige as if they've just met, with the hope that since they fell in love once, they can do it again. It’s a challenge that will test everything he’s ever believed about love, about being true to oneself, and about that sacred part of every marriage ceremony: the vow two people make to each other.

“The Vow” is directed by Michael Sucsy (HBO's “Grey Gardens”) from a screenplay by Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein and Jason Katims, story by Stuart Sender.

Everybody loves a good romance, but hasn’t every love story been told by this point in the history of cinema?

Spyglass Entertainment Co-Chairman Roger Birnbaum admits he’d grappled with this question for years. Then a news story crossed his desk: “I read an article about a couple who’d been in a car accident and the woman never recovered her memories of the man she loved.” Immediately, the unusual nature of the story spoke to him.

What happened to New Mexico residents Kim Carpenter and his wife Krickitt -- an initially tragic but ultimately uplifting saga of a man and woman who found each other again after a seemingly insurmountable obstacle – touched many lives when it was first reported. The Carpenters would eventually publish a book about their experience in 2000.

Spyglass producer Jonathan Glickman describes what interested them in the Carpenters’ story. “We got excited by the idea of telling a story of a relationship that was inspired by true events that had not yet been seen, but was also relatable to anyone because of the universal themes about the need to adapt to change for any relationship to last.”

Krickitt Carpenter, who has been happily married to Kim now for 18 years even though the period of memory she lost never returned, boils down what happened to them this way: “My husband is amazing. He did everything he could to win me back. Life is full of ups and downs and challenges, but you have to dig down and be the best that you can be.”

Honoring the emotional reality of such an extraordinary incident required coming up with an original story that had the right balance, explains Glickman, “Because the story is so emotional and gripping, we didn’t want to make it a melodrama, but something that could elevate itself to one of those classic love stories like `The Way We Were' or `Love Story.' The script needed to be accessible, with humor and a light touch throughout, so that we don’t take ourselves so seriously.”

“I just thought it sounded like an incredible premise for a film,” says director Michael Sucsy. “The fact that two people are already in love when the movie starts, and then they’re ripped apart, and then they have to find a way back to each other, that really touched me. The thing that hit me the most was the fact that this could happen to anybody at any time. A lot of time when we deal with memory loss, it’s about Alzheimer’s and growing old, but I thought this was a really universal way of being able to relate to the problem.”

Opening across the Philippines in February, “The Vow” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.columbiapictures.com.ph to see the latest trailers, get free downloads and play free movie games.

The Woman in Black - Daniel Radcliffe's new movie :)

As much as I love Daniel Radcliffe, I'm not sure if I can watch this movie alone. :) Just by watching the trailer, it already gave me goosebumps. :) But at least, he already has a new movie.

Here's the synopsis of The Woman in Black

Young lawyer Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) leaves his son in London to settle the legal affairs of the recently deceased Alice Drablow. He discovers that a series of inexplicable accidents and suicides have forced the parents of her village to barricade their children indoors, as if protecting them from an unseen foe. When Arthur stays the night all alone at the Drablows' foreboding house, he hears the screams of a drowning child and sees decaying children listlessly wandering the marshes. He will soon discover these haunting figures share the same date of death, and the same killer.

The Woman in Black is the ghost of a scorned woman who was unable to save Nathaniel, her beloved son, from drowning. She now takes on a horrifying form. Set on vengeance, her veil hides gaping sockets eaten away by scavengers and her curse hides an even darker secret - whenever she is seen, a child dies.

In the face of hostility from the local residents, Arthur dredges up Nathaniel's skeleton and buries it with his mother, hoping the evil spectre will finally rest in peace. In a cruel twist of fate, the Woman In Black turns her claws towards Arthur's young son. To avoid a fate worse than death, Arthur must now sacrifice everything he holds dear and save his child.

Vampire role for Johnny Depp: "Dark Shadows"

I'm looking forward to watch this movie. Another Tim Burton & Johnny Depp movie. I love their tandem. Very Gothic.

Dark Shadows is a personal favourite of depp’s and he convinced his number one director, Tim Burton, to make it with him. It’s an update of a TV show from the 1960s involving vampires, werewolves and all sorts of mythical creatures of the night.

Johnny Depp will be portraying as a vampire in an upcoming Tim Burton movie, "Dark Shadows."

In the movie, the versatile 48-year-old actor will be Barnabas Collins, an 18th century vampire who awakens to the 20th century where he encounters monsters, witches, werewolves and other fictional creatures.

The supernatural drama is based on a 1966-1971 gothic soap opera of the same name.

The film has an all star cast (Well it is a Burton / Depp film after all): Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins; ChloĆ« Grace Moretz as Carolyn Stoddard; Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Julia Hoffman; Eva Green as Angelique Bouchard; Michelle Pfeiffer as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard;  Jackie Earle Haley as Willie Loomis; Jonny Lee Miller as Roger Collins and Christopher Lee.

The film is set to be released on May 11 in the United States. So, maybe, it will be released here in Manila around June or July.

Bourne Legacy: Manila Locations

Recently, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino said in an interview that the Bourne series part 4 will be shot in different location here in Manila.

He reportedly said The Bourne Legacy will be filming for a month and the places for the shoot will be Intramuros and Navotas Fishport among others such as Marikina Market, San Andres Market, Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Ayala Avenue, Nagtahan, Pasay Taft, and Jones Bridge.

Tolentino did not confirm whether or not a report that the shooting will start on January 14, 2012 is true. But chances are they will shoot the movie mid week to first week of February.

Several sources say The Bourne Legacy will be written and directed by Tony Gilroy. It topbills Oscar-nominated actor Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) as new CIA operative Aaron Cross. The film also stars Edward Norton and Rachel Weisz.

The Bourne films are a series of action thriller spy films based on the character Jason Bourne, a former CIA assassin suffering from extreme memory loss, created by author Robert Ludlum. All three of Ludlum's novels were adapted for the screen, featuring Matt Damon as the titular character in each. Doug Liman directed The Bourne Identity (2002), Paul Greengrass directed The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), and Tony Gilroy co-wrote each film. The series is noted for its realism, in contrast to the growing use of CGI in the action genre.

How I wish I can see them in person and have an autograph from them especially Jeremy Runner and Rachel Weisz :)

More about the latest movie:

"Matt Damon will not be involved in any more parts of the Bourne franchise".
Incorrect. Damon stated that he would like to be in the Bourne movies again in the future, and that even if this movie doesn't do well, they could still make another staring Damon and forget about legacy. So, just because he isn't in this one movie, that doesn't mean that he won't be in the rest of the entire series. This movie had a deadline before a script was even finished, so both the director and Damon walked out.

My House Husband: Ikaw Na! MMFF 2011 entry by OctoArts Films

When I got the invitation to attend the Press Conference of the upcoming movie of Ms. Judy Ann Santos and Mr. Ryan Agoncillo, I can't help but feel excited. Who wouldn't be? we're talking about Ms. Judy Ann Santos - she's been in the showbiz industry for almost 23 years and has done 70 movies, most of which have won awards from prestigious award giving bodies and let's not forget that her movie "Ploning" has been nominated in the Oscars last 2009 for the Best Foreign Film Category. Ryan Agoncillo, on the other hand is one of the best TV host in the country today.  He is also one of the most sought after when it comes to commercials.

make a gif

Best of all, I am also really eager to meet Ms. Eugene Domingo, I really love her. Without no effort, she can really make a dull room bloom. She's been winning awards left and right and has been nominated for the past consecutive years. She actually took part in  different movies this year for MMFF. Which is why we all laughed when Ms. Judy Ann Santos joke, "Next year di na MMFF ang tawag sa film fest, Eugene Domingo Film Festival na ito"

In My House Husband, Ms. Judy Ann played the role of Mia, a mother and wife who is the sole breadwinner of her family. Ryan Agoncillo played the role of Rod, a bank manager before who turned into a house husband. Ms. Eugene Domingo played the role of Aida, a mistress who happens to be Rod and Mia's neighbor. While Mia is always busy at work, Rod and Aida developed a friendship that got Mia jealous in the end. We'll know more of the story once we get to watch this exciting movie.

Although Eugene has played with other entries this year, she readily accepted the role simply because she wanted to work with Ms. Judy Ann Santos and Mr. Ryan Agoncillo. As well as with Direk Jose Javier Reyes, one of the best director in the country.

One of the blogger asked Ms Uge, "Since you played the role of a mistress, in reality, papayag ka bang maging mistress if ever?" Ms Uge answered with a smile, "Never, I believe in karma at digital na ang karma ngayon!! ang tawag dyan Digi-karm!!"

When asked if this is a sequel of the past movie "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo"  the cast said, although people might still connect the movie with this recent installment from OctoArts Films, this is an entirely different movie. Tackling with the heavy issue that in reality this really happens. There are a lot of husband who stayed in the house right now to take care of their family while their wife is working for example, an OFW or working in the office. But, that doesn't make them a lesser person or a man. Being in the house and doing all the household chores is a big work. Not all men can do it especially if they have a big ego. But most men can do it just because they love their family. Family always comes first right?:)

One of the blogger asked the couple, "What advice can you give the married couples out there.." Ms. Ryan Agonciollo and Ms. Judy Ann Santos just smiled and she replied, "Basta may respeto kayo sa isa't isa at alam nyong nagpakasal kayo dahil mahal nyo ang isa't isa, walang magiging problema. Never naging solusyon ang annulment, kami kahit may mga times na nag aaway kami, never naming naisip na ipa-annul ang kasal. Pwede namang mag pahinga muna para mawala ang init ng ulo ng bawat isa."

Direk Joey Reyes, who directed the couple and Uge in some of his films feels that this is another stellar movie that people should watch. Both Ms. Judy and Mr. Ryan and Uge felt really proud working with Direk Joey, Ms. Judy Ann even said, "Sino ba naman kami para tanggihan ang nag iisang Jose Javier Reyes."

This is surely a must-watch film and yes, I'm looking forward into watching this film. Uge even told the bloggers that she may not be joining the cast in their float but just the same her spirit is with them. :)

With a power house cast, awesome director and a superb story, "My House Husband: Ikaw Na!" is surely expected to lead box-office results and bring home the highest awards in the MMFF 2011. Also stars, Rocco Nacino and Ellen Adarna.

It was so nice meeting the cast! :) Don't forget to watch! "My House Husband: Ikaw Na!" open on Christmas Day. December 25, 2011.

Tom Cruise on Rock of Ages Movie

I am really looking forward on watching this movie. Not that I'm not excited about Tom Cruise's latest movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, but I certainly love him more in this movie. Why? he'll be singing :)) plus he looks really hot in this movie. I also love the idea that Catherine Zeta Jones is also back in track, especially after all the news about her being a bi-polar. I don't think it will affect her status though, she's one of the most sought after actress in Hollywood. I think she'll be singing in this movie as well.

Sarah & Gerald: One More Time!

The biggest romantic-comedy movie this season! Mai-inlove ka! Tatawa ka! The scent of romance with a whiff of humor will fill the early Christmas air this November! Heto na nga ang maagang pamsko mula sa Star Cinema at Viva Films, ang "Won't Last a Day Without You"!

Hindi na nga makapaghintay ang milyun-milyong tagahanga ng most successful love team of 2011 na sina Sarah Geronimo at Gerald Anderson na mapanood ang highly anticipated follow-up movie ng dalawa. After the huge success of "Catch Me I'm Falling" which grossed 130M last March, fans really clamored na masundan agad ito. "Nasurprise ako na gagawan na nga ng follow-up movie! This year din kasi namin ginawa yung unag movie eh so parang expected ko na if ever magkaka follow-up, next year pa." says an excited Sarah Geronimo then she adds "Natutuwa din ako kasi nga ibig sabihin may clamor talaga na masundan yung 1st movie namin. Mas challenging at nakakakaba lang ng sobra this time kasi for sure higher ang expectations sa amin dito!" Gerald likewise shares the excitement, "Na-excite ako ng binanggit na may follow-up movie na agad! Hindi ko pa nun alam kung part 2 ba siya ng Catch Me... or ibang story. Then nakipag-meeting kami with Star at ikinuwento sa'min yung story. Ibang iba 'to! Very realistic at yung mga characters namin, highly-relatable talaga!" he proudly beams!

"When the idea first came about, management was already very happy!" says the movie's director, the very promising Raz de la Torre, "That Sarah would be playing a DJ? Dun pa lang may kiliti na yung character! And I suppose it's really like responsing to kung gaano ka in-demand now yung mga radio programs about counseling. Yung mga taong tumatawag sa radio, tumatawag sila para mapag-sabihan sila. It's really a big trend now. When I was doing my research going around radio stations talking to DJ's na ganoon ang programa, iba na talaga ngayon! It's really about the DJ's character more than just the voice." Direk Raz explained.

From the movie's Craetive Producer, Carmi Raymundo (the genius behind unforgettable movies "My Amnesia Girl", "You Changed My Life", and "A Very Special Love") says that "Won't Last A Day Without You" takes its lead stars on a different turn. "In the movie Sarah is DJ Heidee who hosts a love counseling radio program. If in her past roles Sarah played a "no boyfriend since birth" character na in love na in love sa love, this time she plays a girl who has been seriously broken-hearted kaya she refuses to believe in true love anymore. Nasaktan na siya, na heart-broken na, as in grabe na ang pagsasara sa true love! Until she meets Andrew (Gerald Anderson) who is the exact embodiment of the kind of guy she hates most, womanizer, nakakasakit ng babae! Iba talaga to! What's interesting here is kung papano ita-translate nung dalawa ang mga characters nila on screen!" Carmi enthuses.

Direk Raz furthers, "The movie is not about what you will validate about love but rather what will break your notions about love! Like halimbawa meron kang ideal man or woman, sa tingin mo bagay sa'yo yung ganitong klaseng tao or ang love or relationship dapat ganito, then all of a sudden you find out na ah mas tama pala na ganito, akala ko hindi pero ito pala ang mas bagay sa'kin! This one makes me happier pala at mas tama sa personalidad ko!" Direk Raz closes.

It does feel like love and romance will fill the Christmas air with "Won't Last A Day Without You"! Sabi nga nila Sarah at Gerald, "this movie is our early Christmas gift not just to our fans but to all the hopeless romantics out there as well! Lalo na dun sa mga members ng SMP (Samahan ng Malalamig ang Pasko), this movie will make you believe in true love!" the two chuckled.

Sarah Geronimo

Gerald Anderson

Direk Raz de la Torre

Big movie! Big love team! "Won't Last A Day Without You" open in over 100 theaters nationwide on November 30! We all just can't wait!
