BUM HOLDS FASHION SHOW WITH COSPLAY AS THEME

e

Local clothing brand BUM brings the Cosplay trend to the fore with a one-of-a-kind fashion show at the SM Mall of Asia.

If you have a story to tell, don’t keep it to yourself. Flaunt and let the world know through fashion.
This has been the youth’s battle-cry these days. Not only are they daring, wearing their colors on their sleeves proudly, they are pushing the envelope when it comes to dressing up, as well.

Even the term “costume play” or “cosplay”, which is the act of dressing up as a fictional character inspired from an anime TV series, or a character they idolized, has found its way into the youth’s wardrobe. Cosplay is no longer a style but it has become a “trend” that is normally seen and worn on the streets.

To underscore this “daring” and “experimental” style philosophy, BUM is putting together a fashion show on November 25 at the Music Hall of the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Called Reveal Your Darkside, this fashion celebration is the culminating event of an ongoing nationwide contest. Since August 8, BUM has been receiving through its website (http://www.bumequipment.com.ph) countless entries from young stylistas who want to share the world their passion for the brand and the cosplay trend.

Interestingly, the fashion show will also showcase BUM’s new collection for the Holidays. So cosplay and BUM fanatics can expect a one-of-a-kind fashion event that would inspire them to express their angst, passion, and identity more freely through BUM Collections. Mall goers will enjoy BUM’s treats as early as 1pm with live games on screen. Shoppers can play live video games at the Music Hall venue and win fabulous prizes courtesy of our sponsors Netopia Internet Café and Ideal Vision. Register as early as 1pm and get a chance to win prizes in our event raffle such as NOKIA C1 cellphones, five (5) pieces of P500 GLOBE prepaid loads and BUM gift packs. Raffle draw will be held at exactly 6:30pm. BUM products are available at BUM Boutiques and leading Department Stores nationwide. Sarah & Gerald: One More Time!

The biggest romantic-comedy movie this season! Mai-inlove ka! Tatawa ka! The scent of romance with a whiff of humor will fill the early Christmas air this November! Heto na nga ang maagang pamsko mula sa Star Cinema at Viva Films, ang "Won't Last a Day Without You"!

Hindi na nga makapaghintay ang milyun-milyong tagahanga ng most successful love team of 2011 na sina Sarah Geronimo at Gerald Anderson na mapanood ang highly anticipated follow-up movie ng dalawa. After the huge success of "Catch Me I'm Falling" which grossed 130M last March, fans really clamored na masundan agad ito. "Nasurprise ako na gagawan na nga ng follow-up movie! This year din kasi namin ginawa yung unag movie eh so parang expected ko na if ever magkaka follow-up, next year pa." says an excited Sarah Geronimo then she adds "Natutuwa din ako kasi nga ibig sabihin may clamor talaga na masundan yung 1st movie namin. Mas challenging at nakakakaba lang ng sobra this time kasi for sure higher ang expectations sa amin dito!" Gerald likewise shares the excitement, "Na-excite ako ng binanggit na may follow-up movie na agad! Hindi ko pa nun alam kung part 2 ba siya ng Catch Me... or ibang story. Then nakipag-meeting kami with Star at ikinuwento sa'min yung story. Ibang iba 'to! Very realistic at yung mga characters namin, highly-relatable talaga!" he proudly beams!

"When the idea first came about, management was already very happy!" says the movie's director, the very promising Raz de la Torre, "That Sarah would be playing a DJ? Dun pa lang may kiliti na yung character! And I suppose it's really like responsing to kung gaano ka in-demand now yung mga radio programs about counseling. Yung mga taong tumatawag sa radio, tumatawag sila para mapag-sabihan sila. It's really a big trend now. When I was doing my research going around radio stations talking to DJ's na ganoon ang programa, iba na talaga ngayon! It's really about the DJ's character more than just the voice." Direk Raz explained.

From the movie's Craetive Producer, Carmi Raymundo (the genius behind unforgettable movies "My Amnesia Girl", "You Changed My Life", and "A Very Special Love") says that "Won't Last A Day Without You" takes its lead stars on a different turn. "In the movie Sarah is DJ Heidee who hosts a love counseling radio program. If in her past roles Sarah played a "no boyfriend since birth" character na in love na in love sa love, this time she plays a girl who has been seriously broken-hearted kaya she refuses to believe in true love anymore. Nasaktan na siya, na heart-broken na, as in grabe na ang pagsasara sa true love! Until she meets Andrew (Gerald Anderson) who is the exact embodiment of the kind of guy she hates most, womanizer, nakakasakit ng babae! Iba talaga to! What's interesting here is kung papano ita-translate nung dalawa ang mga characters nila on screen!" Carmi enthuses.

Direk Raz furthers, "The movie is not about what you will validate about love but rather what will break your notions about love! Like halimbawa meron kang ideal man or woman, sa tingin mo bagay sa'yo yung ganitong klaseng tao or ang love or relationship dapat ganito, then all of a sudden you find out na ah mas tama pala na ganito, akala ko hindi pero ito pala ang mas bagay sa'kin! This one makes me happier pala at mas tama sa personalidad ko!" Direk Raz closes.

It does feel like love and romance will fill the Christmas air with "Won't Last A Day Without You"! Sabi nga nila Sarah at Gerald, "this movie is our early Christmas gift not just to our fans but to all the hopeless romantics out there as well! Lalo na dun sa mga members ng SMP (Samahan ng Malalamig ang Pasko), this movie will make you believe in true love!" the two chuckled.

Sarah Geronimo

Gerald Anderson

Direk Raz de la Torre

Big movie! Big love team! "Won't Last A Day Without You" open in over 100 theaters nationwide on November 30! We all just can't wait!

My Reasons To Travel While You Are Young

I'm not really a travel blogger and I don't consider myself as a blogger anyway. I write. But I don't need any labels just to prove to anyone who I am. I love writing and these are one of the few things that really defined who I am. Traveling to new places is one of the things that I want to engage myself into right now. Just like the blog of  http://goinswriter.com/travel-young/ where he pointed out the reasons why we must travel while we're young, I guess I want to share my own reasons why I am venturing myself in the same routine right now. Why I want to save up money and take myself to places where I know I'll mature more.

Traveling engage you in an endless adventure that will make you feel brave enough to do things you think you'll never imagine doing. I haven't gone rappelling though or bungee jump in the tallest building on Earth but I will, who knows. Soon. The drive will be there and I think when the right time comes, I will be tough enough to do it. Traveling has taught me a lot about the places I've been  to.

I haven't gone to many places though but the places where I've been to taught me a lot about the people and their culture. Different places, different culture. I just hope people will continue to preserve their culture and the historical places that they have. When you travel, you are also forced to be one of them. To understand how the natives go through their lives, what they usually do, where they usually go and so many things. You begun adapting everything. Once you get back to your normal life, there, you will see the difference. There, you will know how lucky you seem are compare to others and will be able to show compassion and care for other people especially our Mother Nature. I also marveled the food that I ate whenever I drop by to different local places. What can I say, traveling is also eating. Basically, one of the cultures that you must try once you reached a certain spot. Never go to a place and not try their delicacies. It's like an insult. Be adventurous.

There are so many ways where we can learn different things, traveling is one of them. I learned a lot just by traveling to local places. I don't see any point on whatever age you are in right now. Whether you are young or old. Travel. Discover what life has to offer. Discover what a beautiful and amazing world God has created for us. All we need to do is take care of it. Marvel on it. Next time you want to go to this place and the reasoned out. "I can't, I'm busy." Screw that. There's always a time for making the most of your life. When will be the next perfect time? "I can't, I don't have the money." Save money. This is something that you can cherish for the rest of your life. Material things will never fill up the emotions that you will have once you've climb the highest mountain or once you have seen the amazing sights of the beach.
Next time you want to travel..Just go. No excuses. Pack up your bags and smile. You're barking on an adventure that will mark one of the best things that you will experience.
One of the movies that inspired me to travel to different countries in the future is Eat, Pray, Love. The best book for me, so far would be The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Travel because you want to. Because you want to Live. Learn. Explore.

Trespass 2011: Movie Review

Trespass is one of those movies that you'll know what will happen in the  end but you still manage to watch it from beginning till the end. Of course, I wanted to watch this movie simply because it is from Joel  Schumacher and it stars two of my favorite actyors: Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman.

The story of a rich couple and their daughter who become the victim of a brutal home invasion,  they play a married couple, Kyle and Sarah Miller, who live in a sprawling modern mansion so remote and chilly-looking it could double as a house in horror flicks (here goes my wild imagination) . It's meant to reflect the state of their marriage, with the work-obsessed Kyle (he's a diamond dealer) ignoring the already ignored-feeling Sarah. They have a teen-age daughter, Avery (Liana Liberato), who sneaks out on the evening in question to go to a party her parents have forbidden her from attending.

Enter the burglars, led by the scary, skeevy Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom), a group that also includes the growly Dash Mihok and the hunk Cam Gigandet. Convinced that Kyle has a fortune in uncut stones and cash in his home office safe, they threaten Kyle and Sarah with death unless Kyle turns over the valuables. The rest of the movie became too repetitive. The bargaining part is a little irritating though.

"Do this or I kill her." "If you kill her, I won't do it. Let her go and I'll give you what you want.""No, give me the stuff first and then I'll let her go.""No, because I know you'll kill us when I give you what you want."

The villains in this movie are not very threatening. Without spoiling anything, they make so many decisions that come off as really idiotic and it’s hard to take them seriously. I also had some trouble telling them apart sometimes. There wasn’t really much time taken to develop any of them on an individual level. I couldn’t even figure out who the main bad guy was.

There are times when the movie is very poorly shot and edited. At times it’s hard to see what’s going and therefore it’s difficult to get sucked into the story.

Throughout the film, the main characters are in constant danger yet I never was really concerned about them. We don’t really learn much about them. So they didn’t feel very real. There were  a few moments where I kind of cared about them, but for the most part I didn’t.

And this is just a small thing, but did anyone think that the way Nicholas Cage and Nicole Kidman were dressed in this movie seemed a little bit off. It looked they were in another decade or something. I don’t know, maybe that’s just me.

This isn’t like a movie that made me angry or I couldn’t handle watching or something like that, but it’s not good. I recommend that you don’t watch it, unless you want, I guess you can. But I’m warning you, you might not like it.

Colombiana: Movie Review

After seeing the trailer of this movie, I told myself, I've got to see this movie. I braced myself because one afternoon, after finally having the chance to watch it, I was breathless. I remember liking her in her graceful film debut in the 2000 movie, Center Stage. And then almost a decade later she was starring in the mega hit, Avatar. Now she was turning to a film focused on revenge and violence, two of my favorite movie-going themes.

The plot is basically about a little girl in Bogota sitting patiently in the kitchen of her home as her parents are being murdered in the house by a rival gang. She escapes and provides the US government, via a puke delivery system, with evidence on this gang that her father gave her just before he was killed. This buys her passage to the United States where she joins her Colombian uncle (played by New Zealander Cliff Curtis) after evading her US government escort. Yes, this little girl, on her own, eludes a trained government agent in a strange country, finds her way to Chicago from Miami by bus and then is able to navigate the Chicago subway system, all this without knowing, as far as I know, any English. Anyway, she’s then all grown up and determined to bring her parent’s killer, Don Luis, to justice by killing him. He very conveniently, by the way, was moved to the Chicago area by the CIA for reasons never made clear. She kills the guy, of course, like 99 minutes later and then the movie ends as if they wanted to make the viewers anticipate that they're doing a part 2.

The little girl, wanting to be “a killer” is straight from Besson’s The Professional with Natalie Portman. Then there are the Bourne Identity rip-off scenes. You might remember this films while watching this movie.

Although a lot of people have been criticizing this movie simply because they think it is giving a bad image to the country itself and to the citizens, it is clear that referring to Colombians in the United States has become shorthand for drug cartels, violence, crime and gangs. This, unfortunately, has become major marketing and plot shorthand in a whole lot of movies and television shows over the years.

I love the film, I think Zoe is savvy and perfect for the role. Although I am envisioning Halle Berry on this role as well. I recommend for you to watch it.
